Incredibles 2 on track to be biggest animated movie of all time! Watch Trailer

According to Fandango, Disney’s highly anticipated superhero family sequel is tracking to be the biggest animated movie ever in pre-sales. The film is out-pacing the previous record holder, 2016’s Finding Dory, which went onto become the highest-grossing animated movie ever with $486 million in domestic sales (followed by Shrek 2 with $441 million, The Lion King with $422 million and Toy Story 3 with $415 million). Pixar’s first Incredibles, directed by Brad Bird, was released to universal acclaim in 2004. Fans have had to wait a whopping 14 years for a sequel, which is almost as long as Star Wars fans had to wait between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace.

The new film has Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) taking the superhero lead out in the world while her husband Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) stays at home to face the domestic challenge of raising three kids — until a new supervillain threat requires them to work together as a family.

“Fans have been waiting over a decade to see the return of Pixar’s most beloved heroic family, and those years of anticipation are leading to record-breaking advance ticket sales for Incredibles 2,” said Erik Davis, Fandango managing editor. “The film is already receiving terrific early buzz, and with summer vacation in full swing for many kids, Incredibles 2 is poised to become one of season’s biggest hits.”

Incredibles 2 could represent another major win for Disney, which has already set records as the fastest a studio has ever racked up $1 billion at the box office in a year thanks to Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War (though the studio did take a bruising with Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is reportedly the first Star Wars movie to actually lose money).
